Why were there no great civilizations in North America?
Contrary to popular belief, North America was home to some impressive civilizations before European contact, such as the Mississippian culture and the Anasazi. However, they didn't reach the scale of civilizations like those in Europe or Asia. Factors limiting their growth included a late start in agricultural development, extreme geographical barriers, and the absence of pack animals for transportation. Additionally, diseases introduced by European explorers devastated the indigenous populations. Therefore, their great civilizations remain less recognized.
